Behind the Scenes with “Eve Teacha'”

Most of my posts are about all the good times and the awesome experiences I am having in Korea.  Though teaching is fun and awesome, it also comes with some grueling and boring hard work.  I normally keep these lame details to myself, but I wanted to share with you some “behind the scenes” commentary of what my February looked liked – minus the weekends.  Yes – I do actually work everyday, and I thought I should share a few “work related” comments and photos (especially since February was FILLED with work).

I was an essay grading fool for the entire month of February, and I can’t believe it took me a month to grade all the essays from the contest.  I honestly thought it may take a week and maybe two weekends.  HAAAAA!!!!!!  I spent several nights up until 3am grading those papers.  It would have been cool if that’s all I did.  I still had my NORMAL classes going on during the week, so that means creating and grading quizzes, tests and daily assignments on top of the essays.

In addition to the essays and the normal workload, the semester also came to an end at the end of February.  Therefore, I was also swamped with  creating progress reports for all my students.  I must say that I am sooooooo glad February is over!!!!  I am finished with EVERYTHING now, and we have moved into our new semester.  I will have the same students for the next 5 months, as long as nothing changes before then (which is never guaranteed).  I have close to 100 students, and I teach 6-7 classes per day back to back.

I’m glad that I went the extra mile and made goodie bags for all of my top students who won the essay contest in all my classes.  I made a total of 15 goodie bags and gave them all out last week.  I wanted to reward those students who made the effort to write an outstanding paper.  The essays were graded on format, creativity, organization and grammar usage.  Many of them were difficult to grade, and choosing the winners was not always easy in certain classes.  Either way, it’s all done, and I’m soooooo glad to be approaching my Birthday with all that work finished!!!!!!!!

I’m not sure what I’m doing for my Birthday yet.  I don’t really feel like doing much until the weather gets warmer.  I’m really excited about going to Jeju Island and Busan soon (BEACHES)!!!!!!!!!!!!  Unfortunately – I was soooooo swamped with work that I did not spend much time in February doing any exercise.  So – I feel awful, and I just want to work out right now.  I’m hoping to play tennis more regularly and work out daily for the rest of the month.
