Osan – Never Disappoints

I went back to Osan last weekend to do my final round of shopping and to soak up some sun at the pool.  I FINALLY have a proper tan now, because we FINALLY had beautiful, sunny weather on Sunday.  If you ever need to do some discount shopping and major relaxing, I would highly recommend spending a weekend in Osan.  Outdoor pools are not very common in Korea, unless you are in Seoul, so it’s worth the trip just to enjoy the quiet rooftop pool at the Young Chon Hotel.  You would take the bus to Osan, then take a taxi to the Songtan area near the Airforce Base.  If you tell the taxi driver “Songtan – Air Force Base”, he/she should know exactly where to drop you.  The cab ride is about 10-15 minutes and costs around 10,000 won.  The Young Chon Hotel is located right behind the Baskin Robbins off the main strip, and normally costs between $60-70 per night.  ENJOY!!!!

  1. Hi Eve, I am thinking about teaching in Korea for a year and I am VERY excited about the prospect. Like you, I have always wanted to live and travel to other countries and become immersed in other cultures.

I wanted to ask you the time frame from application to travel and also what your greatest fears were and if they were resolved or did they come true?

Please e-mail me and let me know that my decision to do this would be one of the best things I could ever do for myself. I am a bit older than you, but just got my masters last year and am now laid off, teaching 2 classes at the local community college, so ideally, I would like to head to Korea in about 3 or 4 months so I can spnd the holidays with my family and finish teaching these classes.

Thank you in advance for responding to my questions and I am really looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Smile, Pat Krauss (

    • Hey Pat – I sent you an e-mail, but it was blocked. Please leave another personal e-mail address (not connected to the school), and I’d be glad to forward the information I sent to you. You can e-mail me at

  2. Hey!
I’ve taken a look at your blog and about Osan. I am going to live and teach in Osan, I fly in 2 days! Your blog made me feel so much better about going over! So, you say that they’re pretty good with English there? And you can get lots of Western items/food? Sounds great!

If you could, e-mail me back any info you have on Osan? I can’t find much online!!

Glad you’re having a good time in SK!!

    • Hey Helena!! Glad to hear you will be on Osan. I’m sure you will enjoy it there. I will email more info to you. Safe travels!!!!! 😉
